Zavod KUB

Implementated features

An online constructor with framework-level functionality based on WordPress: we turned a simple catalog into a powerful tool that enables engineers to assemble orders 10-15 times faster.

Areas of work

  • Design
  • Web-development
  • Content-managment
  • Hosting

KUB is a European manufacturer of power distribution systems, microclimate control, and IT infrastructure. The main product is technical cabinets. In the previous version of the website, products were presented in text table formats similar to MS Word, with no option for online ordering. The goal was to transform the online catalog into a full-fledged constructor, allowing orders to be assembled 10-15 times faster.

The site includes the following features:

  1. Management of discounts for users on different product groups
  2. Personal account with order history
  3. Multi-level product catalog
  4. Logistics information calculations
  5. 4 language versions, 3 currencies with rate synchronization, light and dark themes

More About the Features

The main feature of the site is the Cabinet Constructor: when sizes, the price, dimensions, and components are determined. Components are selected based on the size of the chosen cabinet model. For example, if a cabinet with Height х Width х Depth of 2000х800х600 is chosen, then a shelf of 800х600, door of 2000х800, mounting rail of 600, etc., will be selected for it. This is implemented on WooCommerce with customization of the selection mechanism.

Work Speed and Content

Transferring content turned out to be no less challenging. Additional tasks had to be performed:

  1. Convert to Excel format for import
  2. Update data
  3. Implement characteristics through attributes
  4. Perform and synchronize translations

Given the huge volume of work, it was decided to divide the development into several stages: the first stage involves the implementation of key functionalities and product import, while the second includes auxiliary features and adding new products.

Conclusion

The challenge was in the non-standard specifics of the products. The large number of products with multiple characteristics, the number of language versions, and their synchronization significantly impacted the timeline. However, our efficient development strategy with active involvement of KUB’s management and prompt decision-making positively influenced the speed. Since the previous version of the site remained accessible throughout the development process, we included moderately significant tasks in the first stage. Additionally, full testing was possible.
